NTPC share: Buy, Sell or Hold? Market expert’s views amid NTPC Green IPO

Mumbai: With NTPC Green Energy IPO opening for subscription on November 19, 2024, several stock market investors are pondering over whether to buy NTPC shares or not. The PSU stock ended at Rs 367.10 per equity share. The dividend yielding share gained around 46 per cent in the last one year. In this article, market expert Aastha Jain gives his opinion on NTPC shares – whether this is the right time to buy/sell them or hold.

Aastha Jain of brokerage firm Hem Securities said that investors should not buy NTPC shares at present. She opined that if the counter goes past the Rs 385 level, then its details will have to be studied before purchasing. The expert said the NTPC Green Energy IPO is not the main attraction and investors are getting attracted towards the issue. Now, it has to be seen how NTPC shares trade now. She advised the current NTPC shareholders to hold the stock at the level of Rs 340.

NTPC Green IPO

NTPC Green Energy IPO received a subscription of 33 per cent on the first day of share sale on 19 November. On Day 1, NSE data showed that the IPO received bids for 19,46,53,968 shares against 59,31,67,575 shares on offer. The Retail Individual Investors (RIIs) category garnered 1.33 times subscription while the category for non-institutional investors fetched 15 per cent subscription. The Rs 10,000-crore initial share sale of IPO has a price band of Rs 102-108 per share. The public subscription will be open till November 22.

NTPC Green Energy is categorised as a ‘Maharatna’ central public sector enterprise with a renewable energy portfolio, including solar and wind power assets.
