New Delhi: Bajaj Auto Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rajiv Bajaj took a swipe at rival Ola after Chetak emerged as the largest selling EV scooter in India. Bajaj has sold over 3,00,000 EC scooters. The automobile major is all set to launch a new model of the Bajaj Chetak on December 20, 2024.
Attending an award function, Rajiv Bajaj said, “Ola to Ola hai, Chetak to shola hai.” He cited Vahan data while taking the jibe at Ola.
Speaking at the CNBC-TV18 India Business Leader Awards, Bajaj credited his son Rishab for the success of the EV units. He said Rishab has been associated with the Chetak EV team for more than two years.
“My son Rishabh who has been part of the Electric Chetak team for the past 2.5 years told me this morning that based of December VAHAN registration data, our electric scooter Chetak is now the largest selling electric scooter, not third largest, in the country. So, the award could not be better timed,” Bajaj was quoted by ET as saying during the award ceremony.
