‘I changed my determination’: Sarabjot on losing on final spot in individual event

Sarabjot Singh failed to secure a spot in the 8-member final event for the men’s 10m air pistol event. He finished ninth in the qualification round with a score of 577 from six shooting rounds. Even though his tally was same with German shooter Robin Walter (who also scored 577), a lesser X shot (innermost area of the target) didn’t help the Indian shooter’s cause to make through the final round. Sarabjot shot 16 X’s in comparison to Walter’s 17, which was the decisive point between the two for qualification.

“At that time I changed my determination. I missed it just by margins and the qualification wasn’t that great. Thereafter, I shifted my focus on the mixed team (event),” Sarabjot told news agency PTI.

Manu Bhaker, who became first Indian to win two medals in the same Olympic event post independence, is still in Paris yet to compete for her women’s 25m air pistol event.
