Pakistan players slammed as head coach spotted picking bottles after training – WATCH

New Delhi: Pakistan players faced the flak on social media after a video of their Test head coach Jason Gillespie picking up empty bottles from the field went viral. Gillespie was spotted picking up littered bottles from around Pakistan’s nets after the team’s practice session at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

Hosts Pakistan are currently preparing for the third Test against England which gets underway in Rawalpindi on Thursday, October 24. Gillespie was seen working with the players in the nets during the team’s training session on Tuesday. While the players left the ground after the end of practice, the former Australia pacer stayed back to pick up empty bottles from the ground and throw them in the dustbin.

While Gillespie was lauded by many for his humility, Pakistan players were criticised for lacking basic manners. Fans called out the Pakistan players for not doing their job themselves and their poor mentality. The clip of Gillespie picking up bottles from the ground went viral on social media, invoking reactions from many.

It’s just a small thing, but it shows the mentality of our players. Cleaning up after oneself seems to be considered a menial task. Learn some basic manners.

If I was Gillespie, I wouldn’t be picking up bottles a second time. And I’d be giving the players a subtle reminder as well

what a shame!

There is a dustbin right there; they can’t take a few steps to put bottles in the bin, and they want to be “elite” sportsmen.

I seriously hope they feel ashamed and take lessons from it. My biggest pet peeve is when ppl throw litter around or toss the litter out of the car.

Pakistan defeated England by 152 runs in the 2nd Test in Multan to level the ongoing three-match Test series 1-1. Pakistan used the same pitch that was utilised for the series opener in Multan in the 2nd Test and made the most of the turn on offer to get the better of the visitors. Pakistan had earlier suffered a humiliating defeat by an innings and 47 runs in the 1st Test.

Shan Masood & Co. became the first team to lose a Test match by an innings despite having posted a total of more than 500 runs in their first innings. Nonetheless, Pakistan’s spin ploy paid off in the second Test on the reused wicket in Multan as they managed to level the series. It was Pakistan’s first win under skipper Masood.

England have included young spinner Rehan Ahmed in their line-up along with Shoaib Bashir and Jack Leach. Gus Atkinson and Ben Stokes are the only two pacers in their line-up for the third Test.
