New Delhi: Pakistani intelligence agencies have issued a high alert in the country after threats of a terrorist attack and a possibility of a kidnapping of foreign guests attending the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan. According to multiple reports, Pakistan’s Intelligence Bureau has warned the security forces of the suspected abducting of foreign nationals by the extremist group Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) for ransom.
The terror alert has sent shockwaves across the country and has prompted the security forces to heighten the security measures. The international cricket boards are also closely monitoring the situation.
The latest alert has put additional pressure on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the government to ensure top-notch security measures amidst the return of a big ICC tournament in the country after 28 years.
Pakistan are all but out of the ICC Champions Trophy after losing against India in Dubai on Sunday. The Men In Green had lost the tournament opener to New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi.
