New Delhi: Pakistan will be without pacer injured Aamir Jamal for their two-match home Test series against Bangladesh that begins on Wednesday.
Jamal was released from the squad after he failed to recover from a back injury he picked up during his stint in English County cricket.
The Pakistan Cricket Board was been directed the pace bowler to check into the National Cricket Academy in Lahore to regain his fitness.
He was picked in the team for the crucial ICC World Test Championship series on the condition of him clearing a fitness test.
“Right-arm fast bowler Aamir Jamal has been released from the Test squad ahead of the series against Bangladesh. Aamir, who was earlier included in the squad subject to fitness clearance, has been advised to work on his fitness at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
“Aamir is recovering from a back injury which he sustained while playing county cricket this year,” the PCB said in a statement on Monday.
The 28-year-old’s inability to shake off the back issue reduced the Pakistan squad for the Test series to only 14 players, as spinner Abrar Ahmed and top-order batter Kamran Ghulam were released earlier.
