New Delhi: Paras Mhambrey has been appointed the bowling coach of Mumbai Indians franchise for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, it was confirmed on Wednesday. Mhambrey will join the team alongside current bowling coach Lasith Malinga, working under the guidance of head coach Mahela Jayawardene. MI have strengthened their bowling coaching department with the addition of the seasoned Mhambrey.
Mhambrey brings a wealth of experience with him to the Mumbai Indians franchise, having previously served as a bowling coach for the side during their successful campaigns in the cash-rich league. His contributions were instrumental in the team’s wins, including IPL titles in 2013 and Champions League T20 titles in 2011 and 2013.

Ample coaching experience
Apart from his IPL coaching experience, Mhambrey also served as Team India’s bowling coach from 2021 till August 2024 under former head coach Rahul Dravid, being a part of the T20 World Cup-winning side in the Caribbean. The seasoned coach also has experience in the Indian domestic cricket, having overseen India A team and having guided Bengal to successive Ranji Trophy finals in 2005-06 and 2006-07.
As a player for the Indian team, Mhambrey participated in just two Test matches and three ODIs between 1996 and 1998. The cricketer represented Mumbai in domestic cricket, taking 284 wickets in 91 first-class matches and 111 wickets in 83 List A games. MI, earlier in last week, announced the return of former Sri Lanka skipper Jayawardene as their head coach ahead of the new season.
The coaching staff’s first task will be to finalise Mumbai’s retentions ahead of the deadline on October 31, after finishing at bottom of the table in the last edition of the cash-rich league. The former right-arm medium pacer has worked with the Mumbai boys in the past and is being considered as an asset in the setup.
