New Delhi: The Paris 2024 Olympics is in full swing with the football tournament kicking off with a bang two days before the opening ceremony with several high-profile nations showcasing their young talent. The women’s football tournament has already seen its fair share of drama, starting prior to the tournament beginning.
Canada’s campaign has been marred by controversy with their head coach facing suspension amid a drone controversy. Despite defeating New Zealand and host France in their first two games, they find themselves in third place in Group A due to an administrative decision resulting in zero points.
Canada can still advance to the knockout stages with a win over Colombia but the restoration of six points would put them on top of the group.

In order to secure the second spot Brazil will have to win today’s match against Spain as Japan will be facing Nigeria and they can easily win and book the spot. Brazil, however, can still qualify as the best third-placed team.
As the group stages progress, the battle for the top two spots in each group is heating up. The group-stage matches so far have been a mix of expected victories and surprising results, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. Teams are fighting tooth and nail for those coveted knockout stage berths. With every match carrying immense importance, the intensity is palpable.
The women’s Olympic football competition will start at 8:30 p.m., with all 12 teams in action, promising another exciting day. The top two teams from each group and the two best third-placed teams advance to the quarter-finals.
