Paris Olympics 2024 Closing Ceremony: IST Timing, List Of Performers and Live Streaming Details

New Delhi: The Paris Olympics 2024 will draw curtains on Sunday having gone through nearly three weeks of unforgettable sporting action and it will all be concluding with a massive closing ceremony at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, Paris. The event will start late at night in the French capital which means that it will be telecasted live after midnight (Monday) in the Indian subcontinent.

The Paris Games became historic when its opening ceremony was held on the River Seine, the first time ever that the ceremony took place outside a stadium. But for the closing ceremony, the organisers have opted for the traditional approach, as the event would take place inside a packed Stade de France with 80,000 spectators. The ceremony will celebrate the achievements of countless athletes who won in the marquee event and the success of the host city, Paris.

For India, two-time Olympic medallists PR Sreejesh and Manu Bhaker have been chosen as the flag-bearers to take part in the “Parade of Nations” during the ceremony. Other nations, whose athletes shone for them in the Games, will have them as the flagbearers in the parade.

The closing ceremony will also feature the formal extinguishing of the Olympic Flame and the Olympic Flag transfer to the Los Angeles 2028 Organising Committee which will mark the transition to the next edition of the Summer Games. The ceremony will also have a few artistic performances that are expected to showcase the cultures of both France (2024 host nation) and the USA (to host in 2028).

The closing ceremony has been given a name as well which is “Records”. A part of the show will be held in the air which will be accompanied by lighting effects as well. The other details regarding the performances have been a well-guarded secret. There have been countless reports about the celebrities who are expected to perform at the closing ceremony but nothing has been made official yet.

Reported list of performers who will lighten up the closing ceremony

Five-time Grammy winner, Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson, better known as H.E.R., is expected to sing the national anthem of the USA – a performance that will be a part of the handover for the LA 2028.
As per NBC News, Rapper Snoop Dogg will also play a part in the handover segment, though it remains unclear.
There have been several reports of Billie Eilish and Red Hot Chili Peppers also performing during the closing ceremony.
A few California-based and Los Angeles-based music artists will be performing as well.
There are widespread reports of American actor Tom Cruise performing a stunt that will involve the handover of the Olympic flag from Paris to Los Angeles.
