The Paris Olympics 2024 kicked off on Saturday as Kazakhstan was awarded the first-ever medal (bronze) of the marquee event in the shooting event. In the same event, China bagged a gold which opened the tally for the best prize at the 2024 edition of the Summer Games.
The Games are majorly going through the group stage fixtures or qualifying rounds and those who were qualified on Saturday (Day 1), will be battling it out in the medal events on Sunday. One such event would be the women’s 10m air pistol finals where India’s Manu Bhaker will be partaking after qualifying on the previous day. She has a fair chance of bagging gold for the nation and scripting history.
Out of the 205 participating nations, India is being represented by its 117-member delegation. A number of Indian athletes will be in action on the second day, playing across eight sports. Also eyeing a medal will be the women’s archery team, who, if qualified, can compete for the gold medal as well. It promises to be an exciting day!
