New Delhi: All eyes will be on Neeraj Chopra as he gets his title defence underway at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Day 11, August 06. The Indian javelin superstar, who is the reigning Olympic and world champion, will take part in the men’s javelin throw qualification round to secure a spot in the final of the event.
Neeraj, who scripted history by clinching the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, is one of India’s biggest medal hopes at the Paris Games. India’s Kishore Jena will also be in action in the qualifying round of men’s javelin throw alongside Neeraj. Jena is in Group A in the qualifying round while Neeraj will be competing in Group B.
The Harmanpreet Singh-led Indian men’s hockey team will be eyeing a spot in the final when they take on Germany in the highly-anticipated semi-final. India defeated Britain 4-2 in a shoot-out in the quarter-finals to secure a spot in the semi-finals and will be hoping to continue their unbeaten run in the tournament.
Wrestler Vinesh Phogat will also begin her campaign at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Tuesday. She will take on Yui Susaki of Japan in her round of 16 clash in the women’s 50kg category. Vinesh will compete in the quarter-final and semi-final later today if she manages to qualify.
