Paris Olympics 2024 Opening Ceremony LIVE Updates: For the first time in the history of the Olympics, the opening ceremony of the mega event will be held outside the stadium. More than 8000 athletes will cruise a 6 km stretch of the River Seine.
French President Emmanuel Macron has assured the world that it will be one of the most memorable opening ceremonies ever witnessed. The line-up for the ceremony remains a secret but as per the media reports US pop sensation Lady Gaga and French artist Aya Nakamura will perform in the ceremony.
Nearly 45,000 police and paramilitary officers will be deployed to the location, supported by an additional 10,000 soldiers and 20,000 private security personnel. Before the start of the ceremony, a no-fly zone with a radius of 150 km will be enforced around Paris.
According to the official Olympics website, the opening ceremony is open to as many people as possible. Eighty big screens and strategically placed speakers will allow everyone to enjoy the magical atmosphere of this show.
Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu along with Sharath Kamal will be India’s flag-bearers at the mega opening ceremony, leading a strong contingent of 117 athletes for the games.
