New Delhi: After the successful Olympics, Paris is all set to host the 2024 Paralympic Games. The Indian contingent will begin its campaign with action-packed events on day 1. The Paris 2024 Paralympics will see the country competing with its largest-ever contingent, comprising 84 athletes participating across 12 sports.
In Para-Badminton, Nitesh Kumar and Thulasimathi Murugesan will take on Suhas Yathiraj and Palak Kohli in a mixed doubles SL3-SU5 group-stage match. In another mixed doubles event, Sivarajan Solaimalai and Nithya Sre will face USA’s Miles Krajewski and Jayci Simon in the SH6 group stage. Mandeep Kaur and Manasi Joshi will compete in the women’s singles SL3 event. Sukant Kadam, Tarun Dhillon, and Nitesh Kumar will also compete in men’s singles SL4 and SL3 matches in the afternoon.
Aruna Tanwar will compete against Turkey’s Nurcihan Ekinci in the women’s K44-47 kg in para taekwondo, with the medal matches scheduled for around 10:40 PM (IST). Jyoti Gaderiya will compete in the women’s C1-3 3000m individual pursuit qualification in para-cycling. Sheetal Devi, Sarita, and Harvinder Singh will participate in their ranking rounds in para archery.
More para shuttlers such as Palak Kohli, Thulasimathi Murugesan, and Manisha Ramdass will compete across various categories in the evening and late at night.
