Mumbai: Jana Sena founder and actor Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday defeated Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSCRP) candidate Vanga Geetha Viswanatham in Andhra Pradesh’s Pithapuram Assembly constituency.
The considerable Kapu community support, anti-incumbency sentiment, and Kalyan’s charisma seem to have contributed to his success. This election, Pawan Kalyan formed an alliance with the BJP and Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP for both the Lok Sabha and Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. As part of the seat-sharing agreement among the NDA partners, TDP was allocated 144 Assembly and 17 Lok Sabha constituencies, while BJP contested six Lok Sabha and 10 Assembly seats. Jana Sena contested two Lok Sabha and 21 Assembly seats under this deal.
