PCB provides big update on Pakistan Super League in the wake of Operation Sindoor

New Delhi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has provided a major update on the future of the country’s marquee T20 tournament, the Pakistan Super League, in the wake of India’s missile strikes on Pakistan early Wednesday. According to India’s defence ministry, the attack – named “Operation Sindoor” – was in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which left 26 innocent civilians dead.

The rising tensions between India and Pakistan sparked fears about the fate of both the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and the PSL. Multiple flights in India have been cancelled and airport operations have been shut following the strategic military operation, raising concerns about the travel plans of multiple franchises.

The HPCA stadium in Dharamsala is set to host two matches in four days and with the airport in the hill station shut down the match between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians on Sunday, May 11 is set to be rescheduled. However, the match between PBKS and Delhi Capitals on May 8, Thursday is likely to go ahead as planned as both teams are already in Dharamsala.

Meanwhile, escalating tensions also raised fears about the future of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, which is nearing its conclusion.

However, ahead of Match 26 between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators in Rawalpindi, PCB has announced that the premier cricket league will continue as per schedule.

The  PCB announced that the league will continue as planned as Islamabad face Quetta today (May 7, Wednesday) from 8 PM (Pakistan Standard Time) onwards. The toss will take place at 7.30 pm.

The match will see the return of PSL to Rawalpindi for four matches on 7, 8, 9 and 10 May. Following the four fixtures, the final group stage match will be played in Multan on May 11.

The action will then return to Rawalpindi with the Qualifier on May 13. Both Eliminators and the final of the 10th edition of the PSL will take place on May 14, 16, and 18, respectively at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
