New Delhi: India defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets in the first T20I at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. Bangladesh scored 127 runs in 19.5 overs after opting to bat first. Indian bowlers did a brilliant job and picked wickets at regular intervals. Arshdeep Singh removed both the openers cheaply.
Shanto and Towhid Hridoy tried to build a partnership but Washington Sundar removed Shanto on 27 runs. Mayank Yadav dismissed Mahmudullah and picked up his maiden international wicket. Varun Chakravarthy removed Towhid and Jaker Ali.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored an unbeaten 35 runs off 32 balls. Chasing the 128-run target, Openers Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson provided a flying start to Team India.
Abhishek got run out on 17 runs after a mix-up with Sanju Samson. After his dismissal, Sanju and Suryakumar Yadav continued the attack on Bangladeshi bowlers. They build a 40-run partnership for the second wicket. The Indian skipper was dismissed by Mustafizur on 29 runs.
But Hardik and Nitish batted brilliantly and won the match in just 11.5 overs. Hardik notched up an unbeaten 39 runs off 16 balls with the help of five boundaries and two maximums.
