New Delhi: UP Yoddhas continued their flamboyant run at the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 11 as they defeated Gujarat Giants 59-23 at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune on December 19, Thursday. While the Yoddhas are already qualified, Gujarat never looked in touch during the entire tournament, and similar was the case on Thursday. They have already faced elimination from the tournament.
The Yoddhas won their 12th match at the PKL 11 and now have 74 points in 21 matches. They are sitting in third position on the points table while Gujarat is on the 11th spot, having won just five out of 20 matches and has only bagged 35 points.
Gagan Gowda took centrestage for the Yoddhas as he scored a game-high 19 points while Bhavani Rajput pulled off a Super 10 and Sumit registered a high-5 to extend UP Yoddhas’ unbeaten run at the PKL 11 to eight games.

In the second match of the night, already qualified Patna Pirates were downed by U Mumba by a close margin of 37-43. It was a hard-fought contest as U Mumba denied the Pirates a win and ended their long-running winning streak. U Mumba have climbed to the fifth spot in the points table with 66 points in 20 matches.
U Mumba’s climb will be for nothing as all four teams have been finalised for the playoff stage. Patna Pirates, despite losing the clash, climbed a spot up to move into the top two of the points table. The Pirates now have 74 points in 21 matches with the help of 13 wins.
The Pirates are now a spot up to UP Yoddhas while the other two qualified teams are Haryana Steelers and Dabang Delhi.
