New Delhi: Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood lost his cool and lashed out at a reporter during the post-match press conference after his team’s 120-run defeat in the 2nd T20I against West Indies in Multan on Monday. Pakistan were trapped in their own web as West Indies spinner Jomel Warrican spun a web around the hosts on a rank turner to bundle them out for 133 runs in their second innings with a five-wicket haul.
West Indies recorded their first Test victory in Pakistan in nearly 35 years with the help of Warrican’s bowling heroics as Pakistan’s batting line-up crumbled under pressure in the 254-run chase. Following Pakistan’s defeat, skipper Masood lost his cool at a reporter in the post-match presser after he was asked if he would step down from captaincy on his own or if he is waiting for PCB to sack him.
Masood ignored the question initially and asked for the next questions. However, on being interrupted by the same reporter, he decided to respond. The Pakistan captain told the reporter that there was a lot of disrespect in his question while stating that such things would not be tolerated. He urged the reporter to give the players the respect they deserve and insisted any decision from the PCB would be final.
“Aapka ek opinion hai uski mai respect karta hu but aap bhi apne players ko respect dein. Decision maker Pakistan Cricket Board hai and Pakistan Cricket Board ne jab bhi koi faisla liya hai, maine aur players ne usko accept kiya hai. (You have your opinion and I respect that and we have always accepted whatever decision the PCB has taken),” Masood told the reporter.
“Hum log is mulk ke hai aur hum log aapke bhi log hai. Is tarike se disrespect karna kisi ko ye koi tolerate nahi karega. Aapke sawal mai bohot zyada disrespect tha. (We all play for Pakistan and we are your players. No one will tolerate such disrespect. Your question had a lot of disrespect),” Masood added.
“Your question had too much disrespect. No one here will tolerate this.”

The Pakistan skipper further stressed that his team is trying to experiment and try new strategies after the team management decided to play on rank tuners against visitors at home. He demanded patience from the media explaining that their motive remains to win matches for Pakistan which they were doing before their slip-up in the 2nd Test against West Indies in Multan.
“You have to understand and appreciate that we are trying to do something different and you must study that. Anyone can google something but we are trying to do something and we have won three out of the last four Tests at home,” Masood added.
