During the East Asia Summit in Laos, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented an array of carefully curated gifts to world leaders, capturing India’s rich artisanal culture and traditions.

To Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith, he gifted a Vintage Brass Buddha Statue adorned with intricate enamel work from Tamil Nadu, symbolizing peace and spiritual connection.

For the First Lady of Lao PDR, Naly Sisoulith, Modi presented a Patan Patola scarf from Gujarat , meticulously woven by the Salvi family, packaged in a Sadeli box, an ancient craft from Surat.

PM Sonexay Siphandone of Laos received a Kadamwood Buddha head, while his wife Vandara Siphandone was gifted a Malachite and Camel Bone Box with a Radha-Krishna theme, showcasing detailed craftsmanship.

For Thailand’s Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra,Prime Minister Modi selected a low-height wood table from Ladakh with intricate Por carvings, representing the beauty of Ladakhi artistry.

Japan’s PM Shigeru Ishiba was gifted a Silver Peacock figurine with Nakkashi work from West Bengal, while New Zealand’s PM Christopher Luxon received a pair of Silver Lamps from Maharashtra , studded with precious stones and adorned with intricate Jhalar work.

These gifts reflected India’s cultural diversity and further cemented the strong diplomatic relationships between the nations. PM Modi also held bilateral talks with Laos PM Sonexay Siphandone, where both leaders witnessed the signing of MoUs to strengthen India-Lao PDR ties.
