Nidhi all the way!

Nidhi displayed heroics, capping off an amazing performance during the clash as she already stood tall during regulation time by blocking several attempts from the Chinese forwards. The four quarters of the clash ended in a nerve-wracking 1-1 stalemate.

During the shootout, Sakshi Rana gave India a perfect start as she converted the first strike while Nidhi denied China’s first attempt. However, the opponents fought back as Hao Guoting soon equalised and after Mumtaz Khan and Kanika Siwach missed their respective strikes, Ishika’s top-corner strike brought India level at 2-2.

Nidhi made stunning saves in China’s final two attempts as she blocked shots for Li Jingyi and Zuo Dandan, which further set the stage for Sunelita Toppo, who sealed the win with a composed finish and helped India register a memorable victory.

PM Narendra Modi was full of praise for the Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team which beat three-time champions China 3-2 (1-1) to lift their second consecutive Women’s Junior Asia Cup hockey title on Sunday.  Other Sports Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
