New Delhi: Alexander Isak has done it again! He scores another brace to go level with one of the Premier League greats when it comes to Swedish top scorers. The Newcastle forward can’t stop scoring and tonight’s first half brace against the bottom club Southampton has levelled his 48 Premier League goals tally with a swedish Arsenal legend, Freddie Ljunberg. After Isak failed to score in the previous game against Bournemouth, where Newcastle were thrashed 4-1, the Swede has managed to bounce back almost immediately against the Saints with his clinical finishing and perfection from the spot.
Before heading into the game against Bournemouth, Isak was in a fantastic run of form, scoring in each of his eight Premier League games, where he had scored scored 11 consecutive goals. The Swede scored his 17th goal of the season, as he is one of the biggest threats to Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland, who sit at the very top of the golden boot list. Salah sits top with 19, scoring in Liverpool’s on-going match against Ipswich and Haaland is breathing down his neck with 18 to his name. Isak, who has already managed 24 goal contributions in all competitions, is having one of his best seasons of his career, and with the rate of scoring that he has managed this season, he might just break his last season’s numbers of 21 goals in the league.

Newcastle managed to win the penalty after they went 1-0 down when Jan Bednarek had scored the opener in the 10th minute of the game. It was Isak who stepped up to take the penalty and he slotted home confidently to level the score. However, just four minutes later, he scored again when Jacob Murphy found the Swede after stealing the ball in the middle of the park. Isak smoothly put the ball past McCarthy to put his team ahead after controlling it with a single touch. A truly clinical finish from Isak that put Newcastle in a commanding position before half time.
Alexander Isak continues his remarkable form, scoring yet another brace to reach a career milestone in Newcastle United’s match against Southampton, levelling the record for most Premier League goals scored by a swedish player.
