New Delhi: Premier League club Fulham have officially re-signed former winger Willian on a short-term deal until the end of the season, just six months after his departure from the club. The 36-year-old, who previously played for the Cottagers from 2022 to 2024, returns as a free agent following a brief and unremarkable spell with Greek side Olympiakos. He joined the Greek side only in September of last year before terminating his contract with the club in December.
Already a free agent due to the contract termination, Willian’s move did not need to be finalized before the January transfer window deadline, as he was unattached after leaving Olympiakos. His return adds experience and creativity to Marco Silva’s squad, as Fulham aim to finish the season strongly in both the Premier League and FA Cup. The Brazilian winger is delighted to be returning to his former side.
Speaking about his return, the winger said, ” I’m completely happy, my family’s happy. We are happy to be back, and I think we can do good things until the end of the season, so I can’t wait to start with my team-mates and do good things inside the pitch.” He had a good spell with the Cottagers during his two years at the club, resurrecting his career after failed spells at Arsenal and Corinthians.
Welcome back, Willian! 🤍

During his previous spell at Craven Cottage, Willian made 67 appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists. Despite being in the latter stages of his career, he showed that he still has plenty to offer, contributing to Fulham’s impressive performances in the Premier League. Fulham have struggled for consistency this season, and Willian’s return could provide much-needed attacking depth.
His ability to operate on either flank, coupled with his experience in English football, makes him a valuable asset for Silva. Having previously won two Premier League titles with Chelsea, as well as spending a season at Arsenal, Willian brings a wealth of knowledge and composure that could benefit the younger players in the squad. His technical ability, dribbling skills, and set-piece expertise could be key for Fulham as they look to push further up the table.
With Fulham still in the FA Cup, Willian’s presence could also aid their hopes of a deep cup run. Their next fixture sees them travel to Wigan for the fourth round, where Willian might be in contention to feature if his international clearance is processed in time. Returning to Fulham offers him stability, familiarity, and the chance to contribute meaningfully once again.
Loving life in London

The Brazilian winger seems to have been loving his life in London, with this being his fourth separate stint in the City and third London club. Willian initially moved to the city back in 2013 when he signed for Fulham’s main rivals, Chelsea from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala. He had a fruitful time with the Blues, winning two league titles, one league cup, one FA cup and a UEFA Europa League with the side.
He then joined his second London club as he moved to Chelsea’s rivals Arsenal and spent an underwhelming one year at the club in which he only scored one goal for the Gunners. Willian joined Arsenal as he didn’t want to move outside of London as his family had settled well in the city. He left Arsenal to return to his homeland of Brazil but was back to London shortly after, joining Fulham for his third stint in the city.
Willian could’ve also played for another London club before his career began at Chelsea as the winger had already cleared a medical at Tottenham Hotspur back in 2013. However, a call from then-Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic changed his heart and he joined the Blues. With his contract running only until the end of the season, Willian will be eager to make an impact and help Fulham achieve their objectives. Whether this marks the final chapter of his career or a stepping stone to another extension, his return is a welcome boost for the club and fans alike.
Former Brazil International, Willian has rejoined former club Fulham on a short term contract until the end of the season after his short spell with Greek side Olympiacos came to a premature end in December 2024.
