Premier League points table: Fulham hold Ipswich, Liverpool held by Manchester United

New Delhi: Fulham and Ipswich Town played out a dramatic 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage, while Liverpool and Manchester United shared the spoils in a heated 2-2 clash at Anfield. These results led to shifts in the Premier League points table, offering insights into the ongoing battles at both ends of the standings.

Fulham’s draw with Ipswich saw Raul Jimenez shine, netting two penalties to keep Marco Silva’s side unbeaten in eight league matches. Despite dominating the first half, Fulham found themselves trailing after Sam Szmodics capitalised on a defensive error.

However, Jimenez’s precision from the spot ensured they earned a point. Fulham remain ninth, two points behind Aston Villa in eighth, while Ipswich stay stuck in the relegation zone, level on points with 17th-placed Wolves but behind on goal difference.

At Anfield, Liverpool had the chance to extend their lead at the top but were held by a resilient Manchester United side. United went ahead early in the second half through Lisandro Martinez, but Cody Gakpo equalised before Mohamed Salah’s penalty gave Liverpool the advantage.

The Red Devils, however, hit back late, with Amad calmly finishing a counterattack. Liverpool now sit six points clear of Arsenal with a game in hand, but with tricky fixtures against Nottingham Forest and Brentford coming up, their lead could be tested.

For United, the draw was vital in ending a three-match losing streak. They climb to 13th, leapfrogging West Ham on goal difference, and can now aim to build momentum when they host Southampton next week.
