Puneri Paltan set sights to defend their PKL championship

New Delhi: The defending champion Puneri Paltan will look to defend their title successfully. Paltan has always been a consistent team in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL). In the last season, they secured 19 wins, which made a benchmark for other teams as this was the most wins by a single team in a single campaign.

Paltan’s head coach BC Ramesh is the most successful coach in PKL history by winning two titles. Ramesh won the PKL season 7 title with Bengal Warriorz and season 10 with Puneri Paltan. He was also the assistant coach of Bengaluru Bulls when they won the trophy in season 6.

Paltan retained their core group before going to the season 11 auction. V Ajith Kumar was their most expensive buy in the auction. Paltan bought him for Rs. 66 lakhs, they weren’t busy on the auction table as they added only eight players to their squad.

Paltan’s biggest strength was the core experience group they retained before the auction. The raiding attack was led by Mohit Goyat, Pankaj Mohite, and Akash Shinde. Their defense was well equipped with Sanket Sawant, Abinesh Nadarajan, and Gaurav Khatri. Their skipper Aslam Inamdar will be the player to watch as he was the MVP in the previous season when they lift the title for the first time.

Mohammad Shadloui’s departure might give them trouble in the defense department. Shadloui had a great previous season, it will be impossible to replace Shadloui with any other player.

Ajith had a decent previous season as he just added 80 raid points to his tally, which is his lowest since season 7. He will be looking to start fresh and can contribute to his team from Day 1. Paltan’s defense will be a department that they might need to focus on after the departure of the Shadloui.

Paltan bought Vishal, Amaan, and Mohit to replace Shadloui as it was impossible for any local talent will replace the star defender. So Paltan bought three young talents to showcase their talent in season 11.

The Defending Champion Puneri Paltan will aim to defend their title and became the second team in PKL history to successfully defend their crown.  Kabaddi Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
