Alexander Isak: Why is he the driving force behind Newcastle’s resurgence?

New Delhi: Newcastle striker Alexander Isak scored his first goal in as many games across the competition, so the Magpies will have to retain him at St James Park. Winning 3-1 against Nottingham Forest, Isak displayed an all-round performance and impressed experts, who mentioned that he has traces of a good footballer in development.

Former Arsenal striker Theo Walcott mentioned that Isak is the kind of player that every team will be after, even from clubs outside the Premier League. That is why Newcastle must look into immediately signing the 25-year-old. It is true that Isak has the talent to be in some of the top clubs, but they lack the balance he brings to the side.

In his last two outings, he has produced goals from different situations. With a better mix, Isak could be lethal. Last season, Isak scored 25 goals. In comparison, though, he started slow, with just one goal from seven games. However, he has picked up the pace as he faced Forest’s in-form striker Chris Woods.

How Alexander Isak’s role makes him dynamic?

The 32-year-old Wood’s role, though, has been more towards building on chances created by his wingers, but he is manageable. However, Isak is different as his pace causes trouble for the centre midfielders and is very composed during his run. These give him an edge while he is pressing. He is able to create chances and looks comfortable at every corner of the field.

Walcott noted that Isak’s ability to “rotate his positions” is what makes him so unique in the frontline and even compared him to Thierry Henry. Isak may be better in some areas, as the French footballer wasn’t the best at heading the ball or with his back to the goalpost.

Isak came to Newcastle for £63m from Real Sociedad in 2022 with his contract signed until 2028. His recent performance has gotten attention of both Arsenal and Chelsea. Experts have noted that Arsenal is missing te variety that Isak brings to the side, with Walcott noting that he would make a great link up with Martin Odegaard.

Paul Merson, a former Arsenal player, also recently mentioned that Isak is the missing piece that would complete the team, though the side was congested. What was evident was that while Arsenal has a dynamic side, their attack can be predictable, and that is something Mikel Arteta could solve with the Swedish international.

Alexander Isak’s four goals in four consecutive matches across formats has put his talent on spotlight again.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
