Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has two sons – Ivan, 9, and Vladimir Jr., 5, whom he has kept hidden from the public eye in a heavily guarded mansion near Lake Valdai, northwest of Moscow, said a report. Dossier Centre, an independent investigative media outlet, revealed that the boys, who are the children of Putin and former Olympic gymnast Alina Kabaeva, live a life of isolation and luxury, shielded by the Kremlin’s Federal Protective Service.
Ivan was born in 2015 in a private clinic in Switzerland, and Vladimir Jr. was born in Moscow in 2019. The Russian-born gynecologist who delivered them died last year under mysterious circumstances.
The boys are educated by private tutors and have never attended school. They are surrounded by nannies, governesses, and personal trainers and follow a strict daily routine, including meals prepared by personal chefs and access to private gym facilities and swimming pools. They spend their summers on luxury yachts and travel exclusively by private jet or armored train.
“Their dates of birth are only known by their immediate family. They don’t fly on regular flights, they have separate planes,” the report said.
It added, “They don’t attend kindergartens or schools, they are [taught by] hired governesses. They live in residences guarded by the FSO, sail on yachts and ride armoured trains. In February and March the boys relocate to a luxury residence close to the Krasnaya Polyana resort, where they have been learning to ski.”
The boys’ lives are shrouded in secrecy; their identities are not listed in official databases, and their birth dates are known only to close relatives. They are reported to have an extensive collection of toys and pets but have limited social interactions, mainly confined to their immediate family and household staff. Staff members live in isolation and undergo a two-week quarantine before starting work, and turnover is high.
The secrecy around his sons with Kabaeva is thought to be influenced by his KGB background, sensitivity about his relationship with Kabaeva, and heightened security concerns following the Ukraine invasion.
Putin has at least three other children, including two adult daughters from a previous marriage and another child from an affair.
