New Delhi: Ahead of the much-awaited pink-ball Test match between India and Australia, former Team India head coach Rahul Dravid has reflected on his iconic double century knock in Adelaide long back in 2003. The impressive knock of 233 is one of the most memorable achievements for Dravid in Australia as his stupendous contribution helped in India’s victory in Adelaide in 2003-04.

In an exclusive interview with Star Sports, the former Indian cricketer said that he feels humbled when he’s acknowledged for the feat his achieved in the Adelaide Test. His incredible double century and 72 not out in the first and second innings helped India achieve their most memorable win on the Australian soil.

The legendary Indian cricketer said that he’s grateful for it but he wouldn’t have voted for himself as he has a habit of favouring recent achievements than the historical ones. Lauding India for winning in the last two series in Australia, Dravid said that the last couple of years for India have been fabulous when it comes to performing in Australia so he values that more.

Talking about the Adelaide Test match and the series in 2003-04, he said that no matter his performance and the team’s efforts were quite appreciable in Adelaide but they still could not win the series as they underperformed on the final day in Sydney. He said that winning the series would have been a bigger and better achievement.

The former Indian cricketer further lauded the performances of the Indian team saying that the last two teams that have gone to Australia have done incredibly well, highlighting the remarkable progress of Indian cricket in Australia. Meanwhile, after a massive victory in the Perth Test, India are preparing well for the second Test match beginning on Friday in Adelaide.
