New Delhi: RCB’s captain Rajat Patidar has etched his name into the IPL history books by becoming the second-fastest Indian to reach 1000 runs. The right-handed batter accomplished this feat in just 30 innings during a rain-affected encounter against Punjab Kings in IPL 2025. Only Sai Sudharsan has achieved the milestone quicker than him, doing so in 25 innings.
As he broke into the elite list, he surpassed Indian greats like Sachin Tendulkar and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who both took 31 innings to get there. Patidar also became the first Indian batter in IPL history to reach 1000 runs with an average above 35 and a strike rate exceeding 150, a feat which speaks volumes about his potential.
Highly consistent, classy, and destructive, Rajat notches 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ runs in the IPL, all for RCB! 🔥

A tough night for RCB
While Patidar made headlines for his personal achievement, the match itself ended in disappointment for RCB. Tim David’s 50 off 26 balls lifted the side to 95 for nine in a match reduced to 14 overs a side. However, Punjab Kings chased the target with ease, finishing it off in just 12.1 overs. Nehal Wadhera struck a quick 33 from 19 while Josh Hazlewood’s 3/14 went in vain.
With this performance, Patidar has not only proven his T20 credentials but also made a strong case for future India selections in the shortest format. If his current form continues, RCB might just have a match-winner who can guide them to consistent success.
For his fighting knock and presence on the field, Tim David wins the Player of the Match award 🏆
