New Delhi: Rashid Khan is an elated skipper and why shouldn’t he be. His team amazed the entire cricketing fraternity when they beat Bangladesh in the super eight clash to storm into their first-ever T20 World Cup semifinal. From being minnows of the sport to achieving great heights, the Afghans have beaten all the odds to reach the stage where they are currently.

While the side remains on the cusp of winning their maiden big trophy if they get through the penultimate and the ultimate contest, Rashid has a message for all his fans, especially from Afghanistan, ahead of the much-awaited encounter against South Africa on Thursday. Not only a sea of fans praised the team’s work in the showpiece event, the Afghans received appreciation from people across different walks of life.

Rashid’s special message ahead of SF clash

Just a day ahead of the exciting battle, Rashid took to his social media account X to post a special message in his native language Pashto. In the special emotional message, Rashid could be heard appealing the entire fan base back home to support the team as they gear up for the knockout contest.

Talking about the team’s performance in the lead up to the semifinals, Afghanistan began their campaign in style beating Uganda by a mammoth 125-run margin before silencing New Zealand by 84 runs in their next clash. Papua New Guinea was an easy opponent in the third clash as they were hammered by 7 wickets by the Afghans, who confirmed their entry into the super eight stage after this win.

Once the first three battles were won, the fourth and last group game against the West Indies was a setback as they went down by 104 runs and got a reality check. The super eight stage didn’t begin as expected for them as the team lost against India by 47 runs before emerging victorious against Australia and Bangladesh to make their way into the semis.
