Mumbai: The health of Ratan Tata, Tata Group and Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus and a stalwart of Indian industry, who went in for a routine checkup recently, may have taken a turn for the worse. Tata, who checked into a hospital recently, ruled out any critical illness on his social media handle earlier this week. However, since then his condition may have turned critical, according to people familiar with the matter.
Tata, who is single, has no issue and currently bides his time as an investor philanthropist and dog lover. A Cornell graduate, Ratan Tata went on to join the Tata Group and eventually succeeded J R D Tata as the Tata Group chairman. Since then, Ratan Tata has retired to assume the post of Tata Group and Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus, and his oritege N Chandrasekaran has taken over as chairman of Tata Group and Tata Sons.
