Mumbai: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das will announce the outcome of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting on Friday morning. All eyes are on Das as to whether he will announce the decision on interest rate amid high inflation and weak GDP growth numbers.
Meanwhile, several economists experts are of the view that the RBI is likely to maintain status quo on the short-term lending rate (repo). The central bank is however, expected to tinker with cash reserve ratio (CRR) keeping in mind the mixed economic trends.
“Coming up: Monetary Policy Statement by #RBI Governor @DasShaktikanta on December 06, 2024, at 10:00 am,” the Reserve Bank announced on social media platform ‘X’.

RBI Governor-led led six-member MPC started its meeting to decide on the next set of bi-monthly monetary policy on December 4, 2024. Notably, the current meeting would be Das’ last MPC meeting as he is set to retire on December 10. The RBI has kept the repo rate unchanged at 6.5 per cent since February 2023.
The RBI is tasked with ensuring consumer price index (CPI) based inflation remains at 4 per cent with a margin of 2 per cent on the either side.
