Real Madrid lives dearly in my heart: Carlo Ancelotti’s parting message for fans after becoming Brazil coach

New Delhi: Carlo Ancelotti has sent a heartfelt parting message to Real Madrid fans ahead of his impending departure. The Italian manager is set to leave Real Madrid at the end of the ongoing season to take over as the new head coach of Brazil. Ancelotti is the most successful manager in Real Madrid’s history, having won a total of 15 titles in his two managerial spells at the club.

Without going into the details of his appointment as the new Brazil head coach, Ancelotti said he is in the final stretch of his spell at Real Madrid and wants to finish on a high. The Italian told the Real Madrid fans that the club will always remain in his heart and that he will always be a fan. Ancelotti also rubbished the rumours that he had problems with the Real Madrid hierarchy.

“From 26 May onwards, I’ll be Brazil’s coach. It’s a very important challenge, but I want to finish the final stretch of this fantastic adventure here well,” Ancelotti said in a press conference on Tuesday.

“I never had problems with Real and never will have problems with Real. It’s a club that lives dearly in my heart, but everything in life has a date to end.

“I couldn’t be Madrid coach for the rest of my life. It comes to an end for many reasons. The club may need a new impetus. I’m not making a big deal out of it,” he added.

While Brazil have officially confirmed the appointment of Ancelotti as their new head coach, Real Madrid are yet to make an announcement regarding the Italian’s impending departure. Ancelotti rejoined Real Madrid from Everton in 2021, replacing Zinedine Zidane as the new manager of the Los Blancos. He has since won an impressive 11 trophies for the club.

Carlo Ancelotti’s trophy-laden spell at Real Madrid

In his first season after returning to the club, Ancelotti won the La Liga title while guiding Real Madrid to their 14th Champions League title after beating Liverpool in the final. The Los Blancos also won the Supercopa de Espana in the 2021-22 season. Real Madrid lifted their 15th Champions League title last season under Ancelotti while becoming the La Liga champions once again.

Besides two Champions League and two La Liga crowns, Ancelotti also won two UEFA Super Cups, one Copa del Rey and a Supercopa de Espana title in his second stint with the club. He won only four trophies in his first stint with Real Madrid from 2013 to 2015, but added 11 to the tally in his current spell to finish with 15 trophies, the most by any manager in Real Madrid’s history.

The 65-year-old Italian manager said he was grateful for the opportunity to manage the club again and that he never though he would be able to manage the club for six years across two spells.

“A thousand thanks to this club. And we’ll carry on. I’ll always be a Madrid fan. It’s the end of an era. Spectacular. I never thought I’d coach Madrid for six years, and now it’s happened,” said Ancelotti.

While he tasted immense success in his first three seasons, Real Madrid are likely to go trophyless for the first time in 4 years under Ancelotti this season. The club have already been knocked out of the Champions League and lost the Copa del Rey final to Barcelona. They are currently second on the La Liga points table, 7 points behind league leaders Barcelona in as many matches.

The Italian will take charge of the Brazil national team from May 26 after Real Madrid’s final La Liga game of the season against Real Sociedad on May 25.
