New Delhi: Just at the age of 25, Kylian Mbappe as achieved almost everything there is in the world of football. He’s already a FIFA World Cup winner and has won numerous trophies with Paris Saint Germain. He scored a hattrick in a FIFA World Cup final, played alongside greats like Neymar and Lionel Messi, and has recently made the move to his dream club, Real Madrid, where he’s made a blistering start to his career in Madrid.
Despite achieving all this, the train doesn’t stop here for this future hall of famer. Kylian Mbappe has just added another milestone in his career as he became the youngest owner of a football club. News first broke out in July when Ligue 2 outfit SM Caen had announced the Real Madrid forward as a shareholder. The deal was pending approval from the financial body that governs French football, DNCG, which finally arrived on Wednesday making the deal official.
According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Mbappe now owns 80% shares of the club through his investment firm, Interconnected Ventures and the remaining 20% are still with the club’s previous owner, Pierre-Antoine Capton, who is the president of club’s supervisory board. This deal makes Mbappe the second high-profile, active French footballer to become an owner of a club after International teammate N’Golo Kante became the owner of Belgian outfit Royal Excelsior Virton.

The last time a conversation between Kylian Mbappe and SM Caen took place was when Mbappe was looking for his next club after leaving AS Bondy and Caen had tracked the forward for three years but a relegation to Ligue 2 meant that they were unable to afford him and Mbappe instead joined Monaco. Eleven years on, and this time it’s Mbappe who is the one buying and seems like he’s already stamping his authority at the club.
After spending a reported €15 million through Interconnected Ventures’ business arm, Coalition Capital, Mbappe seems keen on having his people run the club. Ziad Hammoud, who is a close friend of the Real Madrid star and the CEO of Interconnected Ventures, is expected to be named the President of the club and other close allies of Mbappe could also hold some positions at the club according to sources.
