Resuming the day on 492 for 3, England smashed 166 runs in the morning session off just 29 overs to race past Pakistan’s first-innings total of 556. At Lunch on Day 4, England raced to a 102-run lead after reaching 658/3 in 130 overs.
Both Root and Brook completed their double centuries during a record unbeaten 414-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Root, who on Wednesday, became England’s all-time leading run-scorer in Tests overtaking Alastair Cook and surpassed icons such as Sunil Gavaskar, Brian Lara, Mahela Jayawardene, and Younis Khan on the list of most Test centuries, continued his record-breaking run on Day 4.
The prolific batter became the first English cricketer to complete 20000 runs in international cricket in his 458th innings, becoming the fourth fastest to reach the landmark behind Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara.
