New Delhi: The Reliance Foundation Development League regional qualifiers of East Zone is set to start today (Tuesday). The youth programme is organised by Reliance Foundation with the AIFF providing technical support. Mohun Bagan and East Bengal have been two of the most successful clubs from the eastern India in this U-21 tournament.
First played in 2022, the Youth League is back for its fourth successive season, having gained a lot of success in youth football of India. The criteria is that players should be U-21 with at least 15 players during registration. Only five players between 21-23 are allow with just three players allowed in the playing XI. Despite including reserve teams from ISL clubs, foreign players are not eligible for playing.

The City of Joy will now witness six teams taking part in the tournament qualifiers across two venues in Kolkata as each team gets to play five games during the regional qualifiers. The big game, Kolkata derby is the last match to be played in the tournament on 29th January 2025. The result of the qualifiers will ultimately decide which team moves into the next zone.
