Rishabh Pant becomes IPL’s most expensive player ever at Rs 27 crore, overtakes Shreyas Iyer as LSG win bid

New Delhi: India’s star-batter Rishabh Pant became the costliest player in IPL’s history as Lucknow Super Giants bid Rs 27 crore in the tournament’s mega auction in Jeddah on Sunday.

Iyer had become the costliest player momentarily when Punjab Kings bid Rs 26.75 crore, surpassing Kolkata Knight Riders’ Rs 24.75 crore for Australian pacer Mitchell Starc.

But after getting involved in a bidding war with Sunrisers Hyderabad, LSG outdid Delhi Capitals’ right to match option (RTM) option with a bid of Rs 27 crore.

Left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh went to Punjab Kings for Rs 18 crore, via the RTM card while South Africa’s star pacer Kagiso Rabada landed in Gujarat Titans for Rs 10.75 crore.

England’s Jos Buttler joined Gujarat Titans for Rs 15.75 crore while Delhi took Starc for Rs 11.75 crore.

Sunrisers Hyderabad got India pacer Mohammed Shami for Rs 10 crore after Gujarat Titans didn’t wish to use the RTM card.

LSG bagged South Africa’s destructive middle order batter Davi Miller for Rs 7.50 crore.
