New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant brought an end to his rough patch in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with a cracking half-century against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in his side’s last game of the season on Tuesday, May 27. Pant roared back to form with a 29-ball fifty after promoting himself to bat at no.3 in the game.

Pant walked out at no.3 after LSG lost opener Matthew Breetzke cheaply on 14 off 12 balls, following a 25-run opening stand between Mitchell Marsh and him. The swashbuckling left-hander batted with intent from the word go and got off to a flying start as he raced to 19 off just 8 balls, taking RCB pacer Yash Dayal to the cleaners in the 4th over.

Pant dispatched a full-length delivery from Dayal, which was in the slot, over mid-wicket for a huge six before smashing two fours in the next three balls to help LSG get 18 runs off the 4th over. He did struggle a bit to rotate the strike in the next few overs, but regained momentum with a six and a four off back-to-back deliveries against Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the 7th over.

The left-hander then charged against spinner Suyash Sharma in the 10th over to complete his fifty off 29 balls with a boundary. The LSG skipper looked confident in his approach and in far better touch than he displayed throughout the season. It was Pant’s second fifty of the season and the first since his 63-run knock against Chennai Super Kings on April 14.
