Rohit Sharma hits new low as Indian skipper after failure in Boxing Day Test match

New Delhi: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has hit a new low with yet another failure in the Boxing Day Test match against Australia on Friday. On the second day of the fourth Test match, the Indian skipper could just muster 3 runs in 5 deliveries, succumbing in front of Aussie captain Pat Cummins. This failure came as big debacle as Rohit was expected to showcase some courage and stand in front of the Aussie line up.

Meanwhile, after mustering just 3 runs, Rohit’s batting average in SENA countries has dived down to the lowest point as the Indian captain. His batting average in the challenging conditions has come down to 15.55 in the last 10 innings, which marks the lowest average for any Indian skipper in the last 75 years. The alarming stats have raised questions on his capabilities as a skipper and also as a batter in the tough territory like Australia.

Rohit Sharma’s lowest average among Indian captains

In as many as 31 innings, Rohit has a poor average (29.1) in SENA as a skipper. Virat Kohli has an average of 46 in 103 innings in SENA as the captain while MS Dhoni holds an average of 38 in 87 innings. Rohit’s struggles in SENA have been a continuous occurrence all through his Test career as his inability to convert starts into big scores have been a major point of concern.

Rohit has been experiencing turmoil in the BGT as far as his batting is concerned. The star Indian batter has just managed scores of 3, 10, 3, 6, in his last four innings. After missing the Perth Test due to the birth of his second child, he dropped himself down to the 6th position, promoting KL Rahul at the top of the order. But in the MCG Test, he opened the batting but fortunes remained the same for India skipper, unexpectedly.
