New Delhi: Rohit Sharma and Co. have finally returned home from Barbados after the T20 World Cup victory. The Men in Blue defeated South Africa in the final and ended India’s long-standing ICC trophy drought. But after the final, the Indian cricket team, support staff and their family members were stuck in Hurricane Beryl.
The airport operations in the Caribbean region were closed and all flights were cancelled. But the BCCI arranged a special Air India chartered flight ‘AIC24WC’ for Rohit Sharma and Co. and the team arrived at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on Thursday morning.
The members of the squad received a warm welcome from the thousands of fans who gathered at the Delhi Airport to welcome the World Cup-winning team. The Indian captain Rohit Sharma thanked the crowd for their support and showcased the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy.
