Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli lead as Indian players dance in T20 World Cup win celebration – WATCH

New Delhi: Led by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Indian players celebrated their T20 World Cup win with a dance at the felicitation ceremony organised by the BCCI at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

The Indian team landed in Delhi in early morning amidst huge cheers and then met PM Narendra Modi at his residence, where they spent around two hours having breakfast.

They then flew to Mumbai where they got on an open-air bus for a victory parade that concluded at the Wankhede Stadium.

The players were felicitated at the venue and handed a cheque of Rs 125 crore BCCI president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah.

After which, led by Rohit and Virat, the players could be seen shaking a leg to popular Bollywood songs while taking a lap of honour in front of the crowd at the Wankhede.

During the parade, Rohit and Virat together held aloft the T20 World Cup infront of thousands of fans who chanted their name to shower their love and admiration for them.

During the felicitation, Rohit said he was overwhlemed by the reception accorded to his team.

“Since the time we have come to India, it has been wonderful. This trophy is for entire nation. The huge turnout of fans to welcome us shows they were as desperate for this T20 World Cup title as we were,” Rohit said.

“It was a wonderful experience to meet PM Modi with the team. On behalf of team, fans, I want to thank the entire nation. This is a special team, I am so lucky to lead this team.”

Virat spoke about he emotional he and Rohot became once they became the champions beating South Africa in the final.

“This is the first time in 15 years that I have seen Rohit show so much emotion. When we were climbing those steps (at Kensington Oval) he was crying and I was crying,” Kohli said.
