Rohit is not part of the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe as he announced his retirement from T20I cricket after the final. He became the oldest Indian skipper to win an ICC trophy. Rohit also became the first captain to win the T20 World Cup without losing any match. He became the third Indian captain after Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni who led India to a World Cup victory.
He will now focus on Test cricket, where Team India will hope to make it to their third consecutive World Test Championship (WTC) final in 2025. Many cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar, Joe Root, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Pat Cummins have attended Wimbledon in recent weeks.
Rohit led his team from the front in the T20 World Cup and was India’s highest run-getter scoring 257 runs in 8 matches at an average of 35.12. Rohit will continue to lead The Men in Blue in ODIs and Test cricket as BCCI secretary Jay Shah has already confirmed that the 37-year-old will captain the team in the upcoming Champions Trophy and World Test Championship final.
