New Delhi: In a major boost for Modi government’s Make in India programme to promote manufacturing in India, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he will encourage Russian companies to set up base in India. Putin praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government for their stable policies and also praised the Make in India programme.
Putin was speaking at Russia’s investment forum in Moscow. The Make in India programme played a key role in strengthening the Centre’s role in attracting foreign investment in India, the Russian President added. While praising the stable operating conditions for small- and medium-sized businesses under the Modi government. He said Russian companies were interested in setting up plants in India owing to the profitability of these operations.

“We are also ready to set up our manufacturing operations in India. The Indian government, under the prime minister’s leadership, has been creating stable conditions, driven by a policy of putting India first,” Putin said.

He also urged member nations to provide greater cooperation for small and medium-sized enterprises under the BRICS umbrella.
