New Delhi: It was a memorable moment for English player Sam Curran who brought up his maiden T20 century during the Surrey vs Hampshire game in the T20 Blast 2024 at the Kennington Oval in London. What made his maiden ton more special was that the English player smashed a monstrous six to bring up the special century.
Chasing a target of 184 runs, Surrey were in all sorts of trouble after they got reduced to 27 for three in 4.1 overs. Will Jacks, Laurie Evans and Rory Burns considered to be their big guns failed to enter the double digits figure. Dom Sibley scored 27 runs off 24 balls before John Turner accounted for his wicket. Curran was the only player restored some balance in the innings with his fiery knock.

Curran was on his mark right from the beginning in the innings and racked his half-century in just 34 balls to stabilise the innings for his side. After his gritty half-ton, Surrey still needed 72 runs off seven overs and that’s when the batter actually came into play. The English player unleashed his beast mode and brought down the target to two in the last over with his fierce hitting.
The left-hander, in the meantime, needed four runs to reach his hundred. On the first ball of the final over, he smashed a massive six off James Fuller to get to his maiden hundred and also help his side clinch the important victory. Enroute to his hundred and a match-winning innings, he stitched two important partnerships which which played a pivotal role in Surrey’s win.

Meanwhile, Curran currently has 3323 runs in T20s to his name from 237 matches at an average of 21.71 and a strike-rate of 133.29 with a hundred and 18 fifties to his name. With the win, Surrey stayed on top of the table in the South Group with 20 points thanks to wins in nine out of 13 games
