New Delhi: Team India wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson, who currently features in the Duleep Trophy 2024, took some time off to spend quality time with his loved ones. On the occasion of Onam on September 15, Sunday, Samson wished his fans through a social media post. Samson is a born Keralite and every year celebrates the native festival with all his heart and drops pictures of the celebration as well.
On Sunday, Samson took to his Instagram handle and posted a few pictures of himself with her wife Charulatha Remesh, wishing his fans a Happy Onam. The couple was dressed in traditional attire as Samson donned a Kurta and a lungi (Kaili or Kalli Mundu) while Charulatha draped a white polka-dot saree. The pictures were candidly taken as the couple smiled while looking at each other.
The post was accompanied by a caption in Malayalam which translated to – “Our Onam wishes to all.” The post has gained over a million likes and over 2.5K comments as fans are wishing Samson back and even wishing him luck on his work front.

Professionally, Samson has been in decent touch in the domestic season. He recently represented the nation in the Sri Lanka series and will hope to continue his form in the upcoming Bangladesh T20Is if selected. The 29-year-old captains Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and will have a headache with the mega-auction in the next few months.
Onam significance
The 10-day Kerala festival celebrates the harvest season and the return of King Mahabali. The natives engage in traditional dances like Kathakali and Pulikali with several boat races also taking place. It all culminates with the grand Onasadya feast on Thiruvonam. In 2024, the festival was celebrated from September 6 to September 15.
The festival is also known for symbolising the spirit of togetherness as families and communities come together to participate in various events. Although it is a Hindu festival but is celebrated by all the communities in the southern state, which makes it a secular and inclusive festival.
