Kolkata: Benchmark indices of the Indian stock market Sensex 30 and Nifty 50 opened in the red. At 9:15 am, the indices stood 0.29% down and 0.11% down respectively only to move in the green two minutes later. However, both indices quickly slid into the red. In the very first minute, Sensex was trading at 81,772.44, down 23.71 ;points (or 0.029%), while Nifty was at 24,919.55, down 26.95 points (or 0.11%). At 9:20 am, Sensex and Nifty were trading 147.41 points (or 0.18%) and 43.25 points (or 0.17%) down respectively.
GIFT Nifty was trading in the red on Tuesday morning. However, all the other major Asian indices were in the green. The Israel-Iran conflict did not show any sign of early resolution. On Monday, US President Donald Trump urged everybody to vacate Iran’s capital Tehran, which could be one of the signs of the things to come. On the other hand, conflict continued relentlessly on Monday night with missiles raining down on the skies of Iran and Israel. However, rupee rose 11 paise to 85.93 against the US dollar in early trade on June 17 which was contrary to the weak opening in the equity markets ion India.
Early gainers on NSE
According to NSE data, the early gainers on Tuesday morning were KBCGLOBAL, SGL, KSL, CYBERMEDIA, DELPHIFX, STLTECH, MKPL, SEPC-RE3, DGCONTENT, WINDMACHIN, TANLA.
On June 16, the Indian rupee rose 7 paise to close at 86.04 against the US dollar. The domestic equity markets, easing global crude prices and weakening dollar helped the Indian currency.
Sensex, Nifty on Monday
All the sectoral indices ended in the green with bank, FMCG, Capital Goods, Consumer Durables, IT, metal, realty, oil & gas rising by 0.5% to 1%. Sensex 30 surged 677.55 points (or 0.84%) to close at 81,796.15, while Nifty jumped 227.90 points (or 0.92%) to end the day at 24,946.50. In the Sensex pack, Ultratech (2.39%), Tech Mahindra (2.12%) and HCL Tech (1.66%) were the big gainers and Tata Motors (3.56%), Adani Ports (0.35%) and Sun Pharma (0.19%) were the main laggards. BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap indices gained by 0.93% and 0.38% respectively.
