New Delhi: It was a night where one of the most iconic European derbies was set for action, and boy it did not disappoint. An unlucky Inter managed to win a point at the very end against their main rivals, Milan. Just six minutes into the game, the flag was raised right away even though Inter had the ball in the net. Lautaro Martinez squared it across goal for Thuram to tap past Maignan after Barella slipped in. However, the Argentine quickly realized that he had begun his run too soon. However, it was indeed an encouraging start for the visitors and soon after, they had another chance to score the opener. The Argentine striker was involved again as he played the ball off towards the edge of the box to Barella who then curled his shot towards the goal after a brilliant play from the Nerazzuri, only for Maignan to collect it.
A few moments later, Inter managed to put the ball in the net yet again, only to see it getting chalked-off. After assessing his options, the midfielder decided to lay it off for an advancing Martinez to shoot into the bottom corner. However, the flag was raised right away for Barella’s run, which was in fact offside by a significant amount. Soon after, Thuram did well to hold up the ball and wait for assistance after being played into space. He played Martinez before the Argentine slashed the shot and caught it with the edge of his boot, sending it soaring towards the stands near the corner flag.
However, right at the end of the half, it was the hosts who found the net, and it did count as Rafael Leao sent a low shot directly at Sommer after Theo Hernandez played him down the line inside the box. Yann Sommer parried but failed to gather. Reijnders muscled his way past a couple opponents to slam the rebound into the roof of the net after it fell within the six-yard area to give Milan the lead in the 45th minute.

The second half began and so did the same old routine for Inter! Martinez believed he had scored, but the goal was disallowed for the third time for Inter. Hernandez was trying to play the ball into the area when he and Dumfries went shoulder to shoulder. Dumfries pushed hard and the ball landed for him, but Hernandez did well to get his body in between. Martinez completed the move after Theo found him in space, but the referee had already blown the whistle for Milan fullback’s foul.
Soon after the goal was disallowed, much to the frustrations of Inter, Bisseck rose above the whole Milan defence to get his head to the ball and tip it down after Zielinski whipped in the corner for Inter. It bounced off Maignan once, but it hit the center of the post and went back out. A frustrating night for the Nerazzuri kept on adding further agony as it was Thiram this time, who struck the woodwork after hitting a sweet volley.
At this point, Inter were wondering what else they can do to score and further frustrations brewed when they struck the post again. Dumfries jumped up to get a head start on Zalewski’s lovely, looping cross, but he could only direct his effort straight onto the post. However, After exerting a great deal of pressure, Inter were finally rewarded at the very end of the game. Stefan De Vrij thumped the ball into the net to eventually give Inter some respite after Zalewski cleverly cushioned it down with his chest after being played by Bisseck’s beautiful cross.
The score remaine 1-1 after full time and this result saw Milan in eighth place, two points below Bologna, while Inter maintained their second-place position, two points behind table-toppers Napoli. Next weekend, Milan will go to Empoli, while on Monday, Inter will host in-form Fiorentina.

Milan truly have a gem in their midfield, and Tijjani Reijnders is truly living up to the expectations that Milan fans have from the Dutch international. He yet again had a great night at San Siro, where he managed to score the opening goal of the match to give Milan the lead just moments before half time. Defensively, he made three interceptions and also won majority of his duels, playing deep in that midfield. Upfront, he was a major threat for the opposition as he managed to get each of his shots on target, including the goal that he scored.
The Dutch international also created two chances throughout the game, where Milan barely had any opportunities to score. Overall, it was yet another great night for the Dutch midfielder who has been a consistent performer for the Rossoneri.
