Serie A 2024/25: Juventus cruise past AC Milan at Allianz to move into top four

New Delhi: It may be a routine to see Juventus draw a league game but they have finally managed to get the job done against AC Milan, winning the game 2-0. After the resumption, the home team completely controlled a match that had been fairly evenly contested after 45 minutes. Juventus’ victory over Milan at Allianz Stadium extended their unbeaten streak in the league to 21 games this season. Tammy Abraham lost the ball away in the midfield, allowing Juventus to regain possession within Milan’s half early into the game. However, Milan keeper Maignan was forced to dive, but the youthful winger’s powerful right-footed drive went over the bar after he took a touch to cut inside.

That was the first real chance of the game for the hosts. Koopemeiners had an opportunity to whip a shot towards goal as Reijnders was too sluggish to close down, allowing the Juve midfielder a bit too much room 25 yards from the goal. However, no damage was done there which was a major relief for Maignan and AC Milan. The hosts had the chance to go infront again when Gatti reached the delivery from an inch-perfect free-kick from Koopmeiners to the edge of the six-yard box, but he managed to drive his free header into the ground and wide.

A moment of madness broke in when Theo Hernandez entered the Juve penalty area, played a one-two with Musah, and then centered a ball to Reijnders. He was then challenged by Kephrem Thuram, as the Dutch international went down without taking a shot, and Di Gregorio cleared Leao’s shot off the line. The home team instantly charged forward and tried to capitalise on the fact that there were up to two Milan players on the ground. However, Maignan took the ball away from the striker’s foot after Nico Gonzalez missed a close-range left-footed attempt. A highly entertaining first half came to an end as Maignan yet again denied Yildiz this time.

A deciding second half for Juve

Maignan was kept busy in the second half too when Weah took an extra step to position himself before taking a shot straight at Maignan’s face. After regaining possession, Musah made a bad pass that allowed Koopmeiners to shoot from close range, but the Milan goalkeeper stopped it. Milan barely managed to keep the possession as the hosts kept on attacking. Juventus’ urgency was finally rewarded after Mbangula’s curling shot took a deflection off Emerson before beating a wrong-footed Maignan 60 seconds before the hour mark, breaking the Rossoneri resistance despite Maignan’s many amazing saves to start the second period.

Five minutes later, Weah, who had only entered the game as a replacement at halftime, would make his imprint by eluding Tomori and then putting a low finish into the far corner to terminate the game as a contest. With their aggressive style, Juventus was able to score twice while Conceicao’s team mostly struggled to generate. Milan remains in eighth place and will play again on Wednesday against Girona in the Champions League before hosting Parma in Serie A in eight days. Juventus’ victory moves them up to fourth place ahead of their games against Brugge in the Champions League midweek and Napoli in the league on Saturday.

Player of the match: Nicolas Gonzalez

There were a numerous candidates for the player of the match title, but Nico Gonzalez had a wonderful night at Allianz Stadium where he managed to assist the first goal that Juventus scored and managed to further chances from an unfamiliar position playing as a center forward. However, since joining Juventus from Fiorentina this season, this performance has been one of his better ones as he is finally able to find his form back. He connected well with the players around him and his selflessness led to Juventus’ first goal of the game that was scored by Mbangula.

Juventus delivered a dominant performance defeating AC Milan 2-0 at the Allianz Stadium to climb into the top four of Serie A 2024/25 table.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
