Several Protesters Shot in Kenya After Finance Bill’s Approval

Chaos erupted in Kenya’s capital Nairobi today after the approval of the Finance Bill 2024, leading to a violent confrontation between protesters and security forces. Several demonstrators were shot as they stormed Parliament, expressing their anger and frustration over the controversial bill.

According to a report from Capital News, the exact number of those injured remains unclear, but reporters on the scene witnessed multiple individuals writhing in pain on the ground, bleeding. “People have been shot, it is very bad,” one protester shouted as he fled from a dense cloud of teargas enveloping the area.

Parliament set ablaze 

In the midst of the turmoil, a section of Parliament was set ablaze, along with a truck parked just outside the fence. The flames and smoke added to the already chaotic scene, drawing alarm and fear among the witnesses. “We have never seen this before, God save Kenya,” an elderly man was reportedly heard saying as he ran and screamed for safety.

Emergency services were quickly mobilized, with at least six people being rushed to the hospital in ambulances. The severity of their injuries and their current condition have not yet been confirmed.
