New Delhi: Shakib Al Hasan has become controversy’s favourite child. The Bangladesh all-rounder’s career has been marred by controversies, and it seems trouble follows wherever he goes. In a shocking turn of events in England, Shakib was reported by the umpires due to a suspect bowling action during his lone appearance for Surrey in this season’s County Championship, as per a report in Cricbuzz.
Following the incident, the England and Wales Cricket Board asked Shakib to undergo an analysis of his bowling action.

In September, the left-arm spinner picked up nine wickets for Surrey in an exhilarating Championship clash against Somerset at Taunton. Shakib bowled more than 63 overs and scalped nine wickets. However, it has now been revealed that the on-field umpires, Steve O’Shaughnessy and David Millns, reported him for suspected action.
Shakib played in the County for the first time since a brief stint with Worcestershire in 2010-11. He was tied up for a short-term deal by Surrey, who lost eight players for the fixture due to England duty.
While Shakib is not suspended from playing, he will have to undergo further tests in an approved location within the next couple of weeks.
The news comes as a shock for Bangladesh cricket and Shakib who has never faced any scrutiny of his bowling action during his more than 17-year career. The ace all-rounder has picked up 712 wickets across 447 international matches.
Shakib last played international cricket in a two-Test series in India. Shakib failed to inspire his team as Bangladesh lost the series 2-0. Due to political unrest in Bangladesh, Shakib was asked not to return home to play his farewell Test against South Africa. In his absence, Bangladesh lost the series at home 2-0 as Proteas inflicted another whitewash on the Bangla Tigers. He was also not selected for the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan.
