New Delhi: The glittering celebration of cricketing excellence, the CEAT awards ceremony held in Mumbai, witnessed Indian cricket players walking away with the maximum accolades distributed. While Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli bagged massive awards, former head coach Rahul Dravid was honoured with the top prize.

Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer was also recognised for the winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 title. While the entire ceremony was filled with glitz, one special moment that took place during the award show captured the essence of sport, displaying true sportsmanship. As soon as the ceremony began, the entire attention of the audience present was shifted towards the heatwarming gesture between Iyer and Rohit.

Iyer, Rohit steal limelight

The Indian skipper was making his way down the stage to find a seat and Iyer, who was already seated noticed Rohit searching for a seat. Without pondering over much, Iyer stood up and offered his seat to Rohit, requesting him to take his place in the front row. The gesture was both spontaneous and genuine, showcasing the deep respect and camaraderie between the two cricketers.

While Rohit was named the ‘Men’s International Cricketer of the Year’, run-machine Virat Kohli earned the ‘Men’s ODI Batter of the Year’ award. Erstwhile coach Rahul Dravid, who quit as the head coach of Indian unit, was honoured with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the Ceat Cricket Rating Awards. Another India player who proved out to be one of the top performers in the ODI World Cup 2023, Mohammed Shami, was named the ‘ODI Bowler of the Year’.

On the women’s front, Indian women’s team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was presented with a memo for leading the country in most matches in T20I history, while her deputy and opening batter Smriti Mandhana was adjudged the ‘Women’s Indian Batter of the Year’.
